Privacy Policy
Plain-English explanation of what data I collect, why I collect it, and what your rights are. No hidden clauses, no legalese spaghetti.

1. Who we are
This website (danieljeong.org) is operated by Daniel Jeong LLC, a Nevada limited liability company in the United States. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” that's who we mean.
We're a one-person consultancy providing Discord community management services. For the information described in this policy, we decide how it is collected and used, which makes us the data controller under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What this policy covers: this website, our call booking page at danieljeongllc.com, and the emails and messages you exchange with us about our services.
What it doesn't cover:
- Members of a community we manage for a client. There we work on the client's instructions. See Section 6.
- Other products we run, such as The Content Drip (thecontentdrip.com), which have their own privacy policies.
- Other websites we link to, such as LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Discord and Upwork. Their own policies apply once you're there.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to deliver the service you asked for, plus a small amount of data to keep the website working and to understand how it's used.
Information you give us directly
- Free analysis form — your name, email, company, website, an optional community link (for example a Discord invite), the challenges you select, who runs your community today, your goals, your budget range, your timeline, how you found us, and anything you write in the notes box.
- Call bookings — when you book a call through our booking page at danieljeongllc.com/booking-page-official-8185, we receive your name, email, meeting time, time zone, and anything else the booking form asks for or you choose to add.
- Marketing emails — only if you ask to receive them. The free analysis form does not sign you up for anything. If we offer a newsletter or a “tools & offers” list, each is a separate opt-in, and you can join one without the other.
- Client engagement data — billing and invoicing details, and the working information you share during an engagement (for example access to your server, your goals, and your team's contact details).
- Direct emails and messages — anything you send us voluntarily by email, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Discord or Upwork.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and the pages requested. Our hosting and security providers log this for every visitor because the site can't be delivered or protected without it.
- Site analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) — we use BrandJet to count visits and see which pages are read. It records the pages you view and roughly how long you stay, the page that referred you, your screen size and language, and outbound links you click. It sets a cookie that recognises a returning browser, and on your first page view it also reads technical details about your browser and device (such as time zone, graphics and audio capabilities, and processor count) for the same purpose. If you arrive from an ad link, the ad click ID in that link is stored for up to 90 days.
- Session recordings and heatmaps (only if you accept analytics cookies) — we use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, and which pages they view. Text you type into form fields is masked in your browser and is not sent to Clarity. Clicks on on-screen choices, such as the multiple-choice answers on the free analysis form, can appear in a recording. Microsoft also receives this data and uses it for its own purposes, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Information from other sources
- Public information about your business — when you ask for an analysis, we look at your website, your public Discord server, and your public social profiles.
- Freelance platforms — if you hire us through a platform such as Upwork, the platform shares your name, company and contract details with us.
What we do NOT ask for
We never ask for your Social Security Number, driver's license, health data, biometric data, political opinions, religious beliefs, union membership, sexual orientation, or any other “special category” data under GDPR Article 9. Please don't put this kind of information in a free-text field. If a form ever appears to ask for it, don't fill it out and contact us — it's a bug.
3. Why we collect it
Each piece of data has a specific purpose. We don't collect anything “just in case.”

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, we need a lawful basis to process your personal data. Here's ours:
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — when you request an analysis, book a call, or engage us as a client, we process your data to deliver what you asked for.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for analytics cookies, session recording, and marketing emails. Nothing in these categories happens unless you say yes.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for security logs, preventing abuse of our forms, replying to messages you send us, and keeping records of our business dealings. We've weighed this against your privacy rights and believe our interest doesn't override them. You can object at any time.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — for tax records, accounting, and any disclosure required by law.
You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing that happened before you withdrew it. See Section 10 for how.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We don't run ads, and we don't pass your information to ad networks or data brokers.

Independent companies
These companies receive data under their own terms and privacy policies. We don't control what they do with it.

If the business is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must keep honoring this policy.
6. When we work inside your community
When a client hires us to build or manage their Discord server, we see information about that community's members — usernames, messages, roles, and moderation history.
That information belongs to the client's community, not to us. The client decides why and how it's used, and we act on the client's instructions (under the GDPR, the client is the controller and we are their processor). We use it only to do the work, and never for our own marketing. When the engagement ends, our access is removed. The reports and working notes we prepared are kept for the period in Section 8.
If you're a member of a community we manage and have a privacy question, contact that community's owner first. Their privacy policy applies. Discord's own privacy policy applies to everything on Discord.
If your organisation needs a data processing agreement for an engagement, ask and we'll put one in place.
7. How we use AI tools
We use AI assistants to help research, draft, and organise our work — for example preparing an analysis, a report, or a reply.
- Information from your inquiry or engagement may be processed by those tools for that purpose.
- We do not use your information to train AI models of our own.
- A person (Daniel) reviews everything before it goes to you. AI tools don't make decisions about you.
If you're a client and want certain information kept out of AI tools, tell us and we'll work that way.
8. How long we keep your data

When a retention period ends, data is either securely deleted or anonymized (stripped of identifying information so it can no longer be linked to you).
9. How we protect it
- Access is limited to Daniel and, where needed, a contractor working on that specific task.
- The site and our providers encrypt data in transit.
- For client work we ask for the minimum access needed, and we hand back or remove access when the engagement ends.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we'll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to deletion — ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest or for direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent — for anything based on consent, withdraw at any time. For cookies, use “Cookie Preferences” in the site footer.
- Right to complain — to us, and to your local data protection authority. EU residents can find theirs at edpb.europa.eu. UK residents: the ICO at ico.org.uk.
Email daniel@danieljeong.org with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We'll respond within 30 days (often much faster). We may need to confirm your identity before acting on the request. If you send a complaint about how we've handled your data, we'll acknowledge it within 30 days and tell you the outcome without undue delay.
US residents
- We don't sell personal information. Nevada residents may still send a “do not sell” request to daniel@danieljeong.org and we'll confirm it.
- Tracking across sites. If you accept analytics cookies, Microsoft may collect information about your activity over time and across other websites that use its services. If you decline, it doesn't through our site.
- Do Not Track. Our site doesn't respond to the older “Do Not Track” browser setting because there's no agreed standard for it. It does respond to Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends that signal, we treat it as declining analytics cookies.
- Marketing emails. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us.
11. International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and so are most of our providers. If you contact us from the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, or another region with data protection laws, your information comes directly to the US, where privacy laws differ from those in your country.
Where our providers move personal data out of those regions on our behalf, they rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where they are certified, or on Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing terms.
12. Automated decisions
We don't make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we don't build profiles of you for advertising. Whether we take on a project is decided by a person.
13. Children
This site and our services are for businesses and adults. They are not directed at anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we'll also email the people directly affected where we have their address. Continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
