Privacy Policy

Plain-English explanation of what data I collect, why I collect it, and what your rights are. No hidden clauses, no legalese spaghetti.

Last updated: April 19, 2026

1. Who we are

This website (danieljeong.org) is operated by Daniel Jeong LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Maryland, United States. When this policy says “we,” “us,” “our,” or “I,” that's who we mean.

We're a one-person consultancy providing Discord community management services. We control how your data is collected and used on this site, which makes us the data controller under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to deliver the service you asked for, plus a minimal amount of data to keep the website working.

Information you give us directly

  • Community intake form data — name, email, company, website, Discord server link, team info, challenges, goals, budget, timeline, and anything you write in free-text fields.
  • Call bookings — when you book a call through our booking page at danieljeongllc.com/booking-page-official-8185, we receive your name, email, meeting time, time zone, and any context you provide.
  • Newsletter subscribers — if you opt in on the intake form or elsewhere on the site, we collect your email address to send Discord community tips and case studies.
  • Tools & offers subscribers — a separate opt-in for promotional content, affiliate recommendations, and software I personally use and recommend. This is tracked independently from the newsletter so you can subscribe to one without the other.
  • Blog comments and engagement — if you leave a comment on a blog post or interact with embedded Medium content, the respective platform may collect data under its own policy.
  • Client engagement data — payment details, invoicing information, and any operational data you share during an active engagement.
  • Direct emails and messages — anything you send to us voluntarily, including via email, LinkedIn, or Twitter.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and the pages you visit on the site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect your Social Security Number, driver's license, health data, biometric data, political opinions, religious beliefs, union membership, sexual orientation, or any other “special category” data under GDPR Article 9. If a form ever appears to ask for any of these, do not fill it out and contact us — it's a bug.

3. Why we collect it

Each piece of data has a specific purpose. We don't collect anything “just in case.”

DataPurpose
Intake form responsesTo review your community and send you the personalized analysis you requested.
Email addressTo deliver the analysis and respond to your inquiry. Marketing emails only if you separately opted in.
Newsletter opt-inIf you opted in, to send Discord community tips and case studies (1–2 emails/month).
Tools & offers opt-inIf you opted in separately, to send promotional content, software recommendations, and affiliate offers for tools we personally use.
Call booking dataTo schedule, prepare for, and follow up on the call.
Payment informationTo process invoices for paid services. We do not store full card numbers — this is handled by our payment processor.
Technical/analytics dataTo diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.
CookiesSite functionality, security, and (with your consent) analytics.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, we need a lawful basis to process your personal data. Here's ours:

  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — when you request an analysis, book a call, or engage us as a client, we process your data to deliver the service.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for marketing emails, optional cookies, and any processing that isn't necessary to deliver the service.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for security logs, fraud prevention, and basic site analytics. We've balanced this against your privacy rights and believe our interest doesn't override them. You can object at any time.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — for tax records, accounting, and any disclosure required by law.

You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing that happened before you withdrew it. See Section 7 for how.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. The only parties who see your data are the service providers we rely on to operate the business:
